Summary and Narrative Style

The trailer offers a cross section of the diverse festival program 2016, including feature fiction films, documentaries and animation films. A modern motion design, short title displays and the dramaturgically increasing montage of images and music are underlining this year’s festival motto “In Tomorrow We Believe”. Besides well-known subjects of Native American filmmakers, themes of social criticism and environmental policy move to the center.

„American Indians and Inuit: the North America Film Festival“ takes place every two years being the only film festival of this kind in Europe.

Most of the “Indian” films and Westerns are using clichés and stereotypes when depicting Native Americans, frequently ignoring their history and social reality. The festival has therefore set up the mission to provide a platform to filmmakers who want to convey indigenous worldviews and everyday realities.
